Warning to Patients about Ozone Cleaners

We want to inform you that SoClean and other ozone cleaners for CPAP have been associated with an increased risk for cancer and other harmful health effects. In fact, in 2021, Philips Respironics, a leading manufacturer of CPAP and other PAP devices, recalled over 4 million CPAP devices due to concerns that using ozone cleaners, like SoClean, with their CPAP units was related to the breakdown of the foam abatement (sound-reducing) materials inside the CPAP devices, thereby causing release of these tiny particles into the airflow. Inhalation of these tiny particles could contribute to the development of serious health problems, including heart attacks, respiratory distress, and even cancer. Therefore, we do not recommend the use of SoClean or any ozone CPAP cleaner.

For cleaning your CPAP parts, we recommend use of a UV cleaner or simply hand washing CPAP parts once a week. We also recommend replacing your CPAP parts on a regular basis.
