How do I begin
the consultation process?
A consultation can be scheduled by contacting our office at (972) 473-7300. The initial consultation with Dr. Kakar includes a review of your symptoms and sleep history, as well as a physical examination. Dr. Kakar will also discuss his findings and recommendations at the conclusion of the visit.
Do I sleep over at the first visit?
No. Unless you are referred to us just for an overnight study, the first visit will be a daytime clinic visit with Dr. Kakar, as described above. An overnight study, if indicated, will be scheduled for another date in most cases.
Does The DCSD accept all medical insurance plans?
The DCSD accepts most insurance plans, including Medicare. However, we do not belong to some insurance networks and the use of out-of-network benefits may be required.
If Dr. Kakar decides that you need an overnight sleep study, then we will contact your insurance company prior to the study to determine how much of your costs will be covered by your medical insurance.
Can you help me if I am having
problems with my CPAP?
Absolutely. At The DSCD, we strive to help all of our patients on CPAP, whether you are just starting CPAP treatment or if you’ve been using it for years. We can help you get adjusted to new gear or to make your experience with CPAP more comfortable. New technologies are becoming available every day, so contact us if you are interested in updating your equipment or gear. Also keep in mind that CPAP requirements change if you gain or lose 10 pounds of weight or more. Also please keep in mind that CPAP masks and tubing must be replaced on a regular basis to prevent the risk of infection or illness. At The DCSD, a doctor is readily available to answer your questions or concerns.
Who reads the sleep studies?
At The DCSD, Dr. Kakar reads every single study himself. He ensures that every patient is getting the best possible evaluation and treatment available. Many sleep labs have doctors who read the studies but never see the patients. The DCSD is one of a select few places where the doctor who reads the sleep studies is actually the one you’ll see in our clinic.
